- You must be a citizen of a commonwealth country.
- You are aged 17 or over
- You have a grand parent or a great grand parent who was born in the UK
- You can maintain and accommodate you and your dependents with out having recourse to UK public funds
- You must obtain UK Entry Clearance as a UK ancestry Visa holder before you travel to UK under this visa category.

- Once you make a successful application as an UK Ancestry you will get leave to enter for a period maximum up to 5 yours.
- However if you have received valid visa less then 5 years you need to extend you visa with in the UK before the expiry date of your current approved period.
- Upon completion of 5 years on Ancestry visa in the UK you will be eligible to apply for UK Permanent Residency which is known as Indefinite Leave to Remain status in the UK.
